During the afternoon on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, were in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island visiting a tortoise preserve within the Galapagos National Park. After our tortoise search, we headed to an area known as the pit craters or Los Gemelos. These small craters are surrounded by a lush, epiphyte-laden, endemic Scalesia forest. Temperatures were in the low 70's with cloudy skies. We did experience some light rain (garua) while up in the highlands.
