This photograph was taken while we were on a Panga ride in the vicinity of Champion Island, a small offshore volcanic cone near Floreana. No landings are allowed on Champion Island. This species is a common resident whose population is estimated to be a few thousand pairs in about 30 colonies. The species breeds throughout the year and nests colonially in rocky crevices or on bare ground. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
