This photograph of a Swallow-tailed Gull was taken during a hike at Punta Suarez, Espanola Island, on December 6, 2008. It was late in the afternoon, and we enjoyed being able to view one of the richest wildlife locations in the Galapagos. The "boulder" trail is one that we will always remember! This species sports a large eye with a red eye-ring during breeding season. It was a partly cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the high 70's to low 80's.
