This photograph was taken on the top deck of our ship, the National Geographic Islander, just as we were crossing the Equator on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. We were taking part in a ceremony to become "shellbacks". Brad took this photograph of the four VENT guides (in the center, left to right, Barry Lyon, Michael O'Brien, Victor Emanuel, and Louise Zemaitis) flanked on the left by Daniel Sanchez, Naturalist and Lucho Verdesoto, Expedition Leader and on the right by Alexandra Bahamonde, Naturalist; and Gilda Gonzales, Naturalist.
