Late in the afternoon on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, we visited Fernandina Island at Punta Espinosa. Fernandina is an imposing 5,000 foot volcano that has a history of erupting every couple of years. The stark coastline here is bathed by rich seas and supports an assortment of animal life. The Wandering Tattler is a common migrant and is found on rocky coasts. It was a partly cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the upper 70's.
