We left the Hacienda San Lucas after breakfast on February 23, 2011, and drove to the Lodge at Pico Bonito. After lunch and settling into our cabin, Brad and I did some birding on the property's grounds. We photographed this male Black-cheeked Woodpecker foraging on the ground near the lodge. It was a humid, overcast afternoon with intermittent heavy rain and temperatures in the upper 80's.
