After an early breakfast (0600) at Pico Bonito Lodge on Sunday, February 27, 2011, we started birding at 0700. The Loop Trail to Mermaid Falls and back was our targeted area. Brad photographed this Chestnut-colored Woodpecker foraging in a tree near the observation tower. It was a partly cloudy morning with temperatures in the 70's.
