We photographed this sign with a piece written by Roberto Sosa (April 18, 1930 - May 23, 2011) as we entered the ruins at Copán after birding the lush rainforest of the surrounding area. Sosa was an author and poet born in Yoro, Honduras, who spent his early life working diligently to help provide for his poor family. When he was almost thirty years old, he published his first book. At the time of his death he was a noted magazine (Presente) editor, president of the Honduras Journalists’ Union, and literature professor at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras.
