The Honduran Emerald, Amazilia luciae, is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is endemic to Honduras. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland. The species is locally common in the arid thorn forest and scrub in the upper Rio Aguan valley. We took this photograph of a flower on a terrestrial bromeliad that the bird relies on for a food source along with cacti flowers and small insects.
