After an early breakfast at the Hacienda San Lucas on February 21, 2011, we drove up the La Laguna-San Francisco Road to experience and bird an area that provides an excellent elevational transect beginning in dry scrub, ascending through pine-oak woodlands, and ending in humid, broad-leaf forest. By the time we were in the pine-oak woodlands, the skies had cleared, and temperatures were in the mid to low 80's. The Grace's Warbler shown in Brad's photograph is a life-bird for us, and we were thrilled to get good looks at the species. Grace's Warbler has a short yellow supercilium and subocular crescent, a yellow throat and chest, and blue-gray upperparts.
