We had an early breakfast (0500) at Pico Bonito Lodge on February 25, 2011, before beginning a morning of birding at Lancetilla Botanical Gardens. After several hours of birding a side road near the entry way, we started to drive towards the visitor center. We stopped along the way to look at a colony of Oropendola nests. This photograph shows the colony and one Montezuma Oropendola. What the bird didn't notice was a Giant Cowbird entering one of the nests. It was a sunny morning with temperatures in the 80's.
