We drove from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on February 19, 2011, to the Hacienda San Lucas. The Hacienda is a 100-year old, family-owned retreat that is located in the hills directly above the world-renowned Mayan ruins of Copán. Our first birding stop along our route was at El Puente, an archaeological site containing some of the southernmost known Mayan ruins. This was the first time that we've seen this species. A Nutting's Flycatcher is similar to an Ash-throated but can be differentiated from it by call (wheek), a browner face, less peaked nape, and orange mouth. It was a partly cloudy, humid morning with temperatures in the 80's.
