After an early breakfast (0600) at Pico Bonito Lodge on Sunday, February 27, 2011, we started birding at 0700. The Loop Trail to Mermaid Falls and back was our targeted area. We hiked down to the falls and on our return trip saw and photographed a Red-capped Manakin. Lighting conditions in the jungle make photography a challenge. It was a partly cloudy morning with temperatures in the 70's.
