We left the Hacienda San Lucas after breakfast on February 23, 2011, and drove to the Lodge at Pico Bonito. After lunch and settling into our cabin, Brad and I did some birding on the property's grounds. We found this Rufous-tailed Hummingbird perched on a branch. The female's bill is blackish above and red below with a black tip. This photograph shows a nice side view of the female. It was a humid, overcast afternoon with intermittent heavy rain and temperatures in the upper 80's.
