After an early breakfast at the Hacienda San Lucas on February 22, 2011, we once again drove up the La Laguna-San Francisco Road to experience and bird an area that provides an excellent elevational transect beginning in dry scrub, ascending through pine-oak woodlands, and ending in humid, broad-leaf forest. This time we drove to the top of the mountain to begin early morning birding in the humid, broad-leaf forest area. It was a sunny morning with temperatures in the upper 70's. The Yellow-backed Oriole was foraging in a nearby tree.
