We took this photograph of a Broad-tailed Hummingbird while we were walking along the Lake Estes trail in Estes Park, Colorado. Adult male birds' wingbeats produce a loud whistle which is harsh and trilling in this species. It's is a good way to ID males of this species, such as the bird shown. It was a partly cloudy evening with temperatures in the upper 80's to low 90's.
