The Námafjall Hverfjall area east of Mývatn in northern Iceland was our last scheduled stop during the afternoon of Tuesday, August 10, 2010. This geothermal area is noted for its fumaroles and mud pots. This adult Black-headed Gull was an interesting addition to the otherwise bleak scenery.
