After lunch at Geysir Verslun on Thursday, August 12, 2010, we walked across the road to visit the Geysir (sometimes known as The Great Geysir) and the other geysers in the park. This area is located in the Haukadalur valley, east of Reykjavik, Iceland. Since the old Geysir isn't performing up to par on a regular basis anymore, we photographed its side-kick Strokkur. Although far less majestic, Geysir's neighbor, Strokkur ("The Churn"), does manage to squirt it's steaming water a meager 60 to 100 feet about once every five minutes. We took this photo just as Strokkur started to blow. The boiling water seemed to be very viscous and was quite a sight.
