The Námafjall Hverfjall area east of Mývatn in northern Iceland was our last scheduled stop during the afternoon of Tuesday, August 10, 2010. This active geothermal area is noted for its fumaroles and mud pots. The scenery shown in this photograph is reminiscent of a moonscape.
