In order to get a view of the city of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, we drove to the Perlan Building and went up to the fourth floor observation deck. This building was originally designed by Ingimundur Sveinsson and is now one of the more recognizable landmarks in the city. Perlan (the Pearl in English) is situated on a hill known as Öskjuhlíð and has been the site of hot water storage tanks for decades. The five immense hot water tanks are topped with a domed revolving restaurant and an atrium on the lower floors.
