During the morning of Thursday, August 12, 2010, we drove to the east of Reykjavík along Iceland's main ring road, Route 1. The Tungufljot River is located 100km southeast of Reykjavik. It is considered to be a large river by Icelandic standards. The water is clear and offers endless pools for fly fishing. A salmon ladder at the Faxi of Tungufljot waterfall can be seen in the center left of the photograph. This ladder has allowed huge numbers of salmon to navigate their way upstream.
