This picture was taken on a hike in Alta Cima, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A cold front drove temperatures into the low 50's to mid-60's. It was cloudy and windy and a relief from the high temperatures of the previous day. This Gray Hawk took over the perch of an American Kestrel and suffered through numerous bombing dives by the Kestrel. Both birds put on quite an aerial display with legs down and talons splayed.....the Kestrel the eventual victor.
