After breakfast on May 8, 2009, we hiked and birded along a road leading from Lecina to Betorz. This path took us through box scrub, olive groves, and stunted oak forest. Small plots of farmed land along with stunning views of the Pyrenees provided an idyllic backdrop to birding. The Bonelli's Warbler winters in tropical Africa and is a summer visitor to this area (April through August). It was a sunny morning with temperatures in the 70's and very high humidity that made it feel much hotter.
