We used the small village of Lecina, located in Huesca Province, Aragon, Spain, as our base for birding. Our group spent three nights at the Hostel La Choca. This 17th century residence has been restored and is run by owners Miguel and Ana. We enjoyed daily breakfast and dinners in the Hostel's restaurant area. Lecina is located right in the eastern edge of the Mountain Range and Canyons of Guara Nature Park (Parque Natural de la Sierra y los Cañones de Guara), just north of a line between the towns of Huesca and Barbastro, and just south of the Ordesa National Park (Parque Nacional Ordesa y Monte Perdido). We'd left Lecina and were heading to Barcelona when we stopped at the La Choca overview to do some more birding. Cave studded canyons border the Rio Vero. Some of the caves were inhabited by Griffon Vultures. Temperatures were in the low 80's on this partly cloudy morning.
