We woke on May 8, 2009, to warm weather and partly cloudy skies. After breakfast, we took a walk from our hotel, La Choca, through the village of Lecina and headed north towards the village of Betorz. This species is similar to the Yellowhammer. However, it is a little smaller with a proportionately slightly bigger bill and shorter tail. The male is unmistakable with its black eye-stripe and throat. Temperatures were in the low to high 70's on this clear, sunny morning.
