We were in the vicinity of Ontiņena, Huesca, Aragon, when this photo of a Crested Lark was taken. With its pointed, spiky crest and long, straight lower mandible, this ground-living passerine is fairly easy to identify. The bird that we photographed was making short work of its meal. It was a warm, sunny morning with temperatures in the mid-70's.
