On May 1, 2009, we visited the Ebro Delta and Wetlands located south of Catalonia. We birded numerous locations and, as we were heading towards Gola de Migjorn at the far point of the southern half of the delta, we got fleeting looks at these Eurasian Tree Sparrows. This species has a vinaceous red-brown crown and a black cheek patch on its white cheek. It was a partly cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the 80's.
