After lunch on May 1, we decided to walk the road in front of the Eucalyptus Campsite (Ebro Delta area) when this Eurasian Hoopoe popped out of the grass. This is one of the most distinctive and striking species that we saw on our trip. It has a long, narrow, slightly down-curved bill, pied wings, and a fabulous crest. Its 'oop-oop-oop' call is easlily identifible. It was a cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the upper 60's.
