We were near Sariñena, a municipality located in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain, on May 4, 2009, looking for Little Owls. Along the road, there were many run-down, abandoned farms. Red poppies seemed to be growing everywhere, in fields and along the sides of roads. I took this photograph of Joanne standing next to a stone wall of a building with an intricate construction pattern. The roof of this building had been specially designed to lure Kestrel's to build their nests. The tile shingles are placed so that a bird can crawl in and built its nest. It was a sunny morning with temperatures in the low 70's.
