We had spent our morning driving and birding through the Roncal Valley and continuing up a road with many switchbacks to Belagua and France. Up here there were no border crossings, customs or signs indicating when you left Spain and entered France. I took this photograph of Joanne just after we had crossed into France (we were near the Pierre Saint Martin ski resort on the downslope of the mountain). It was a sunny afternoon with clear skies and temperatures in the low to mid-60's.
