We drove up to Vadiello Dam located in the Sierra y Caņones de Guara of northern Spain (Huesca, Aragon, Spain). We saw this Lammergeier flying overhead. This very rare (only 500 pairs left in this area) and local resident can be found in high mountains and soaring over valleys. Its long, wedge-shaped tail is a useful field mark for identification. The Lammergeier feeds on flesh and eats bone marrow by swallowing and digesting the bones of freshly killed animals and carrion. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this sunny afternoon.
