Several acquaintances of our local guide knew of a Long-eared Owl's nest near Belchite. We saw the owl flying among the trees near a barn. We did manage long distance views of this species. The photograph gives some hint of the owl's coloration with its large, yellowish-buff patch on the base of its outer primaries accented by its dark carpal patch. We wish we could have gotten closer but didn't want to disturb it. The morning was sunny with temperatures in the 70's.
