On the morning of May 7, 2009, we visited the monastery of San Juan de la Peņa (Saint John of the Rock) which is located southwest of Jaca, Huesca, Spain. San Juan de la Peņa was one of the most important monasteries in Aragon during the Middle Ages. While waiting for the lower level Romanesque monastery to open, we hiked around the area near the upper level Baroque monastery. We took a photograph of this sign because it provides a detailed description of the monastery. Temperatures were in the high 60's on this partly cloudy morning.
