On the afternoon of May 4, 2009, we were birding near Ontiņena, a municipality located in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. We were able to get good looks at this bird as it perched on wires near our local guide's home. The lack of spots, and presence of a yellow bill and pink legs distinguish this species during summer. In winter it has tiny pale spots on its back, belly and undertail coverts but none on its head. The Spotless Starling appears darker than the European Starling. It was a partly cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the 80's.
