After lunch on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, we birded along the Vosso River. Brad spotted (no pun intended) this Great Spotted Woodpecker foraging for insects. Everyone in the group was able to get a scope view of the bird. Brad managed to take one photograph of the bird who was, unfortunately, buried in the branches. This species is the commonest of the pied woodpeckers (those with basically black and white plumage). It was an overcast afternoon with temperatures in the mid- to upper 60's.
