During the afternoon of March 19, 2010, we returned to the Wakodahatchee Wetlands located in suburban Delray Beach for some additional birding. We visited with one of the volunteers working there and were told about a family of Great Horned Owls that had set up housekeeping at Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (seven miles west of the city of Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County, Florida). We made a quick visit there and were able to get this photograph of mom and one of the two juveniles. It was a windy afternoon with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-70's.
