This is a photograph of an Amazon Kingfisher in flight that we took while birding at Summit Pond late in the afternoon on January 1, 2010. Temperatures were in the mid-90's on this partly cloudy, humid afternoon. The Amazon Kingfisher is larger, lacks the conspicuous white on the tail, and has less white on the wings when compared to the Green Kingfisher.
