We arrived in Panama City around 1400 on December 22, 2009. Brad and I decided to walk around the grounds of our hotel, the Country Inn and Suites (Amador), to look at local scenery and see what birds were around. We walked along Pelicano Avenue which follows a portion of the Panama Canal and saw this female Black-throated Mango perched in a nearby tree. The metallic green back and white underparts with a black stripe down the center are field marks that can be used to identify the female of this species. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this partly cloudy and humid afternoon.
