We left Canopy Lodge after an early breakfast on December 25, 2009, to head for the dry Pacific lowland around the small community of El Chiru. We saw these Brown-throated Parakeets perched in some shrubs along the road we were hiking. Found in the lowlands of western Pacific Panama, this species has orange feathers below the eye with a brownish coloration to the sides of head, throat, and chest. Temperatures were in the low 80's (and climbing) on this partly cloudy morning.
