After breakfast on December 28, 2009, we birded Semaphore Hill, the one mile road connecting Canopy Tower with the main highway. This turned out to be the birdiest day of the trip (over 108 different species). Walking down Semaphore Hill was a wonderful birding experience (one which I wish we could have repeated). Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this partly cloudy, humid morning. This is a photograph that Brad took of a female Cinnamon Woodpecker showing its short bushy crest. The male has a red moustachial streak and upper throat.
