After a full morning of birding on December 24, 2009, we headed back to Canopy Lodge for lunch and some much needed down time. We saw this female Crimson-backed Tanager sitting on a platform feeder that was located below our room's balcony. The female's colors are muted, but the belly and rump are still bright red. Temperatures were in the low 80's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
