We spent the morning of December 26, 2009, birding in Bosque Nuboso (Cloud Forest) which is located in the Cerro Gaital area. On our way back to Canopy Lodge, we saw a Brown-throated Three-toed Sloth, Bradypus variegatus, ambling along the side of the rode. This tree sloth is a solitary, nocturnal and diurnal animal that feeds on leaves of many species of trees. The Brown-throated Sloth has grayish brown to beige color fur. This photograph shows the sloth's coarse and stiff looking body hair.
