We left Canopy Lodge after an early breakfast on December 25, 2009, to head for the dry Pacific lowland around the small community of El Chiru. We saw this Fork-tailed Flycatcher perched in a tree along the road we were hiking. With its black head and deeply forked tail, this is a spectacular bird to watch in flight. Temperatures were in the low 80's (and climbing) on this partly cloudy morning.
