We left Canopy Lodge after an early breakfast on December 25, 2009, to head for the dry Pacific lowland around the small community of El Chiru. After a morning of birding in this area, we drove to Raul Arias' beach house at Playa Santa Clara for lunch and some down time. By 1500 we were on the road again, this time heading to El Valle Chiquito to try and pick up some additional species before heading back to the lodge. This Gray-capped Flycatcher sat still for its photograph. Temperatures were in the mid- to high 80's on this sunny afternoon.
