Late in the afternoon on December 24, 2009, we boarded our bus and headed from El Valle's Canopy Lodge across a narrow valley to bird at Cariguana. Birding along a local road provided us looks at several interesting species. This photograph of two Gray-headed Chachalacas shows the birds' chestnut primaries and buff tipped tails. By early evening, the skies had cleared, and temperatures were in the low 80's.
