During the morning of December 31, 2009, we birded along Achiote Road near Panama's Atlantic coast. This area is one of central Panama's premier birding locations. Temperatures were in the high 80's to low 90's on this clear day with high humidity. We were in the town of Achiote and had stopped for lunch at the Visitor Center at Parque Nacional San Lorenzo (located on the occidental bank of the Panama Canal) when Brad took this photograph of a hummingbird's nest and egg. We did not have time to stick around and see what type of hummer was on nest.
