After breakfast on December 28, 2009, we birded Semaphore Hill, the one mile road connecting Canopy Tower with the main highway. This turned out to be the birdiest day of the trip (over 108 different species). Walking down Semaphore Hill was a wonderful birding experience (one which I wish we could have repeated). Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this partly cloudy, humid morning. We photographed this Long-tailed Hermit with its long, white-tipped central tail feathers in the vicinity of the feeders near the Tower while waiting for our group to assemble.
