After breakfast on December 27, 2009, we drove to a finca (farm) that we had birded the previous afternoon to try and pick up some additional species. After several hours of birding at the finca, we drove to Canopy Adventure, a zip lining tourist attraction, near Canopy Lodge. This time we were successful in locating the roosting Mottled Owls. It was worth the effort to see these spectacular owls. This medium-sized owl lacks ear tuffs, has whitish eyebrows, and a buff-colored belly boldly streaked with dark brown. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy, windy afternoon.
