After arriving at El Valle's Canopy Lodge, we spent time before room assignments and lunch sitting on the lodge's porch watching various species of birds feed at the six nearby platform feeders. Hummingbird and platform feeders are strategically placed around the lodge and its gardens. This is a photograph showing a female Red-legged Honeycreeper. The female of this species is identified by its red legs, decurved bill and streaked breast. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
