Early (0430) in the morning on December 31, 2009, we drove from Canopy Tower and headed towards Colon on Panama's Atlantic coast. We crossed the Panama Canal locks at Gatun to get to the west side of the Canal so that we could bird along Achiote Road, one of central Panama's premier birding locations. Temperatures were already in the mid-80's with clear skies and high humidity. This is a photograph of two Red-lored Amazons as they flew over us.
